Getting into dental school is not an easy process, says Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez. There are tests, prerequisites, and interviews, none of which are simple. However, it is a worthy endeavor and Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez is proof that it can be done. Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez attended Universidad Complutense de Madrid for his undergraduate degree in Dentistry. Currently, Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez is a Master's student at Newcastle University in Restorative Dentistry. So Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez knows how to get into a dental school. Here are some of his tips on the interview process:

·         Be self-aware: If you are wanting to get into dental school, then you clearly have a desire to be a dentist. But it is not so clear to those who are interviewing you what reasons you may have for this. So think through your desire, says Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez, and be able to articulate it clearly.

·         Be in the know: You should not be clueless of the field you are wanting to enter. Spend some time looking up the current issues in the field of dentistry, Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez encourages. Also, once you know which issues are hot, form an opinion about them. It won't help you to know something about these issues but have no opinion on them.

·         Be a professional: Treat this like a job interview, says Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez. Being a student at this institution is about to be your job. Also, you want to show the school what kind of professional you will be some day. Be respectful, be well-dressed, and be on time.

Be curious: The school wants to know that you are interested in them, not just in dental school generally, declares Dr. Ruben Calvo-Parra Martinez. So come prepared with questions about the school to ask your interviewers. Make them as specific to the program as you can.
